so… we finally made it. one whole year has passed since eileen and i photographed our first wedding together as blume photography. (*throws confetti, blows party horn*)

a lot has happened since then, and we’ve stood in awe the whole time as we’ve watched our little business “blume.” (pardon the horrible pun. i had to use it sooner or later; so i figured i’d just get it out of the way.) now with more than 25 photo shoots under our belts, not to mention 50 blog posts (this is No. 51), 552 facebook fans, 1421 unique visitors to our web site last month (a record 179,210 hits in a month!), 3 weddings, and 13 more weddings booked for 2010 (so far…), we’re feeling pretty darn good (and pretty darn exhausted, too :P).

it’s a funny thing:  we really don’t remember how it all happened. but it went something like this: one day, a friend asked me if i was still into photography in a big way and if i might be available to photograph her wedding. i went home and asked eileen if she could create a simple web site to display samples of our work. she threw something amazing together. i thought it looked pretty impressive; so i went out and purchased a business license. people started calling us on the telephone and writing to our email! our jaws dropped open. the end.

it was really that simple. the most complicated part of the story is how long it took me to get the business license, what with being sent back and forth all over town to the wrong government buildings for three days.

mostly, we’re just grateful. i feel incredibly blessed to be doing a job i love with the woman of my dreams. and it just so happens it’s her ideal job, too. go figure! and she gets to work with the corniest man of her goofiest nightmares! (i guess there had to be a downside to this story somewhere. oh well, better her than me!)
