The Atlanta History Center | Best Atlanta Venues

Filed in:

For many, Atlanta is a dream wedding destination because of its rich history and timeless charm. One’s search for a dream venue doesn’t last long before discovering Atlanta History Center. Its 33-acre campus is steeped in history, tucked away in the heart of Buckhead underneath sheltering Piedmont canopies, and serves as the perfect picturesque background. Atlanta History Center is the ideal venue for any event—complete with historic grounds and gardens that can make anyone’s special day look and feel as awe-inspiring as it truly is.

The crown jewel of Atlanta History Center’s offerings for private events is the illustrious Swan House, and its surrounding formal gardens. Designed by Philip Trammel Shutze in 1928 for Edward and Emily Inman, Swan House is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Shutze was proficient with integrating lush gardens into the vast layout of any estate, and this iconic Jazz age mansion is no different. This timeless Atlanta landmark has hosted many guests during its century of celebrations—from film stars to royal families—and is waiting for you and yours.

In addition to historic buildings, artifacts, and under told stories, Atlanta History Center is also home to  Goizueta Gardens –– arguably one of Atlanta’s best kept “secrets.” These 9 distinct gardens all carry their own identities and historical relevancies, but one in particular stands out when it comes to weddings.

As if from the pages of a fairytale, fragrant flowers bloom year-round in Olguita’s Garden. Honoring the life of Goizueta Gardens namesake Olga “Olguita” C. de Goizueta, this garden sweeps guests off their feet with hundreds of blooms, perennials, and seasonal plantings against a fragrant and evergreen tea olive hedge. The ornamental garden, adjoining terrace, and private lawn are inspired by the great gardens of Europe with intricate floral beds and a limestone water feature, with sheltering columns designed by legendary Atlanta architect Neel Reid.

With such a variety of private event options at one location, it’s no wonder that Atlanta History Center is often the desired choice for Atlanta weddings and ceremonies. In all, there are seven indoor and outdoor venues to choose from –– each one as stunning as the one before. Begin the next chapter of your love story with an unforgettable event at a timeless venue. To schedule a site tour or book an event at Atlanta History Center, call Private Events at 404.814.4090, or email PrivateEvents@atlantahistorycenter.com.
