How can you create a full set of stunning portraits, all at the back entrance of a Las Vegas hotel? With the right lighting, a gorgeous dress and flower crown by Sew Trendy, and electric chemistry from this beautiful real-life couple, how could you not?!
We were honored to work with fashion boutique Sew Trendy, as well as amazing models Ryan and Shayla, on this creamy, dreamy photowalk during WPPI, the country’s largest convention for wedding and portrait photographers. Held at the iconic Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, WPPI welcomes almost 15,000 photographers each year from all over the world. And Eileen and I were honored to be named among its featured speakers and educators for a fifth year!
I had an especially remarkable time working with the photographers who joined in as students during my “From Posed to Playful” photowalk (see class photo below) featured here. Besides some off-camera lighting and composition, we focused mostly on creating an environment in which your portrait subjects understand your direction, feel comfortable, and enjoy themselves immensely. The result, I hope, is authentic emotion in the portrait that you just can’t fake!
