The costumes, decor and unique celebrations after looking onto the wedding venues in Adelaide were like nothing we’d ever witnessed! So you can imagine how much fun we had photographing Yvonne and Garrett’s cosplay wedding at Atlanta’s Fernbank Museum of Natural History.
A rainbow of colors — lilac, plum, navy, hot pink, and cream — reverberated throughout the simultaneously bright yet gothic undertones of day. (I didn’t know it was even possible to combine those two. lol.)
While the bridal party dressed in everything from steam-punk to an inflatable t-rex costume (tiny t-rex arms make for the funniest ring-bearing ever btw!), Garrett and Yvonne kicked their style into high gear with his fabulous cloak and top hat and her glorious winter queen gown. As Garrett observed, she looked beautiful and fierce, as if a pack of wolves should follow at her command.
Beyond the bold aesthetics, there was still a casual atmosphere of friends and family getting together to make truly meaningful memories. We loved getting to meet this sweet couple’s parents. All of them were so kind, and it was particularly impressive how much Yvonne’s father looked like Santa Claus. Half the time I thought to myself, this is what a fairytale wedding might look like if Santa were giving away his daughter at a North Pole ceremony!
Congratulations, Yvonne and Garrett! We deeply loved the heartfelt promises and affirmations you spoke to one another, both during your ceremony and reception celebration. We love your appreciation and deference toward one another, and your gratitude for the blessings of life — whether they be seashells or handmade scarves and other special mementos. We wish you so much happiness.
Yvonne is a talented fabrics major, and I loved watching her braid together this incredible fabric garland. As you’ll see below, it hung from the balcony as an elegant, epic backdrop to their ceremony.
Yvonne’s father actually does play Santa professionally. And I’m almost 100 percent sure that doesn’t surprise you! Love the red suit. And if they hadn’t found a place as amazing as Fernbank for their wedding, I’m pretty sure they would have had to go to the North Pole for a venue.
They incorporated the Celtic tradition of hand-binding.
The toasts were so inspirational.. and emotional! We love seeing Garrett cry as often as possible — but in a good way! 🙂
