why do i love kristin and chris’ wedding? o, let me count the ways. first, eileen and i consider it a great honor to call these very special individuals our friends. second, i love that their romance began as a strong friendship. third, who else thinks of incorporating a lucky lottery ticket into their bouquet toss? next, i love that kristin and chris preferred gifts given to charities over receiving wedding gifts for themselves. i love that we could witness the special role kristin’s father, a retired minister, played in their marriage ceremony. i love the energy and gung-ho attitude these two (and their wedding party) brought to the photo-making process, even in very humid conditions. i love that her wedding dress was j.crew. i love the elegant backdrop the atlanta botanical gardens provided. i love the amazing support kristin and chris received from seemingly a thousand guests who sat, stood, and filled the garden to overflowing with encouragement. i love the importance kristin and chris placed on honoring their families and uniting their distinct cultural traditions and heritage — filipino and vietnamese.
i love that kristin decided on a last-minute whim to lose her shoes and go barefoot down the aisle. i love that their wedding cake was a giant ice cream sandwich hamburger. i love that they incorporated their pet names (“ducky” and “monkey”) into both their engagement shoot (one of our first after starting blume photography) and their wedding decor. i love that, in lieu of a grand exit, they slow danced in a cloud of bubbles their last remaining guests blew around them. i love that they roughed it on their honeymoon, backpacking across their ancestral countries and visiting distant family along the way.
these kids have a style all their own. it’s a style eileen and i love. and we love them.
