Did love bring these two together? Or was it too much caffeine and absurd dance moves? The world may never know. (Read their story just below, and decide for yourself!) The important thing is, they’re together now and awesome at it!
Amidst life’s many important pursuits, Eileen and I remain convinced that a couple’s relationship must take priority. So I was fiendishly pleased to interrupt Lizzy and Cory’s super-hectic schedule in Charlotte, NC, and aimlessly explore new corner’s of this city with them. Their lives are currently filled with intense regimens of clinical residency, endless study, and intense testing — even up to the moment I arrived at their apartment! I admire Lizzy and Cory’s ability to stay focused on what matters — on the meaningful career path they’ve chosen, but also on the family they’ve chosen to build together. This is the good stuff — the stuff of life that makes it worth living.
In short, these two know how to “work hard, play hard.” I mean.. just look at those dance moves (below)! Hmm.. yeah, I’m not so sure those could possibly be what brought them together after all. Some things never change…
“I met Cory in the Spring of 2013 in Savannah, Georgia at a Mercer School of Medicine Orientation event. Cory was incredibly polite and kind and willing to answer almost any question thrown at him that morning about what it was like to be a medical student. Almost immediately, I was drawn to Cory’s gentleness and gregarious personality. I’ll never forget the first time he invited some of us over to his house on a housing tour, and I first heard about his love for his family and his passion for medicine. Two things I knew we had in common almost immediately.
“That next year as I began my first year in medical school, I repeatedly ran into Cory at social events and school gatherings. I always enjoyed our time together and our conversations were never dull… but it would seem that Cory never got the hint to ask me out. Then came Doctor Prom 2015.
“For those of you who have no clue what this event entails: picture a hundred plus medical students taking a break from tedious months of studying and other clinical duties to dance and relax with all of their other socially awkward friends. Quite memorable. As was usual for the two of us, we found each other on the dance floor where we proceeded to show off our finest dance moves… and for those of you who haven’t had the pleasure of witnessing my one-of-a-kind dance moves: watch out. After all, they finally got Cory’s attention. Two days later, Cory asked me out on our first date. Maybe it was all the Starbucks coffee or maybe just nerves, but I left feeling like I wanted to get to know him even more and hoping he would ask me out again. He did (but you already know that).. and the rest of our story? Well it’s just beginning.”
“‘Oh what a night!!’ (singing involved here!) Cory and I hope that our wedding is both irreplaceable and most importantly, fun. We hope that our guests find this to be the best way to start a new year: what a better night to celebrate the new year with family, friends, good food and champagne?! We hope that they know they have been thoughtfully invited because of their lasting impact in our lives. We want to thank them, most importantly, for bringing us together and coming together as one on NYE!”
Beautiful! Looking forward to an unforgettable wedding!
