the end of august was hot, both in pace and temperature. the same day we landed safely back in atlanta from shoots in london, we were unpacking and prepping for lindsey and wes’ wedding the next day. and what an awesome couple to come home to! their excitement and passion inspired us and gave us momentum for the challenge of four weddings within two weeks. courtney and cody’s wedding actually fell on my birthday (phillip), and i felt so honored — they had let everyone know about it, so i was constantly being congratulated by guests and vendors alike. what fun!
my birthday, august 31, has always seemed like the hottest day of the year to me. this year, the entire second half of the month felt equally hot and humid (even for georgia). and boy did it rain! with the exception of one, all these weddings were rainy during all or part of the day. why do they say rain is lucky on your wedding day? maybe just to help you keep a positive attitude when it comes. i loved one bride’s comment about that old saying: “if anybody tells me rain is good luck on my wedding day, i’ll punch him in the face.” haha! good thing eileen warned me; i always use that line. actually, i secretly enjoy the way rain forces me to push creatively, broadening what seemed like limited possibilities. best of all, our couples never let a little water get in the way of their enthusiasm or adventurous spirits. we had a ball celebrating and shooting with all of them.
after a few weeks abroad and quite a few unexpected opportunities upon arriving home, we have lots to do around the studio! but we just couldn’t leave these weddings unshared. keep an eye open for more from these gorgeous couples!
