It may be cliche to describe a “match made in heaven,” but we believe that’s exactly what you find when you commit your way to the Lord and your heart to one He brings your way for life! I so enjoyed the thoughtfulness and gentleness I observed between these two as we explored one of their favorite places to stroll together — which also happens to be one of Atlanta’s most beautiful, little-known gems. Here’s more about this lovely couple, in their own words!

How did the two of you meet?
We met through a 76-year old couple who knows us both! The Fregas live across the street from Dawn’s parents and have been good friends of her family for years. They also know Richard through the Atlanta Rowing Club, and for quite some time told us individually that we needed to meet each other. After several months of repeatedly saying this, the four of us had dinner together so that Richard and Dawn could meet. Richard actually hosted dinner at his house, and Dawn was immediately impressed at his cooking and hospitality skills. The rest is history!

Richard is a combination of one part teacher, one part athlete, and one part nurse. He has the patience, love for learning, and curiosity of the teacher that he formerly was. As an avid rower, he has the strength, intensity, and personal-drive of an athlete, and doesn’t do anything half-way. In his current profession as a nurse, he shows compassion and strength of character as he takes gentle care of critically-ill children. He loves the Lord, and invests his time in things that matter. I call him a Renaissance Man because he can do just about anything! It’s a perfect combination that swept me off my feet!

Dawn is a woman of complexity, intrigue, and deeply honest commitment to serve others. Incredibly beautiful, confident, and determined, she turns heads, commands attention and exudes a passion for excellence. She lives by Carpe Diem, for she seizes each day, each new adventure, only to play off her incredible courage and passion for travel, talking lightly of visiting Africa, forgoing mention of summiting the highest peak in Africa. She is nurturing and her warm smile fills my heart with peace. She is selfless, wholly committed to serving all of God’s people through her love, from her sisters and brothers, to the children she encounters, to generously sharing her energy, warmth and kindness with me.
