She felt her cheeks begin to flood with color. A boy Cheney had been chatting with (but hadn’t yet met in-person) had just walked into the sushi restaurant where she worked. Knowing how red she must appear, she panicked and ran out of the room to hide in an “employees only” area. She just stood there, struck at how cute Ben was. Finally, she gathered her courage enough to bring him a menu. The rest, as they say, is history!
Cheney says that Ben is “an intelligent and adventurous spirit. He is constantly striving for knowledge (excluding pop culture). He is intuitive, patient when I need him to be, and exceptionally kind. His generosity and loyalty are fierce. He is amazing with family and children. But most importantly he is silly.”
Ben describes his bride as “beautiful, personable, smart (with the possible exception of higher math).” He says she “brings joy and laughter to everything she does. She cares about others and is highly empathetic.”
It’s no wonder the celebration was sincere and in full swing, both for the ceremony at the historical and perfectly quaint Penfield Presbyterian Church (an important landmark for Cheney’s family, as Cheney’s many-times great grandparents founded the church in 1876 and their names are preserved in its stained glass windows) and afterwards at their gorgeous Harbor Club Stables reception on Lake Oconee.
Earthy floral tones, blue suits, and vintage rose dresses helped paint the day with a subtle and soft palette. And the natural, rustic beauty throughout the day set the stage for a perfectly relaxed day! It was so fun!
We loved the personal touches, from the broach on Cheney’s dress (a family heirloom), to her “something blue” (a patch of her baby “blanky” sewed under her dress, which those close to her recognized), to Ben’s vintage watch (his grandfather’s).
Congrats, Cheney and Ben! We can’t wait to watch as your marriage adventure unfolds before you!
