what can compare to a family day in the park? there’s really nothing like it — especially for kids. think about it: you’re outdoors, out of shoes, in the one place where the usual rules don’t apply. “use your inside voice?” I DON’T THINK SO! “no running in the house?” you can throw that one out the window. no, wait… there are no windows because you’re in the park!
mom and dad are still right there, but no longer as the four-wall law enforcers. now they’re transformed into swing-pushers, peanut butter sandwich chefs, and an easy-to-please audience for your playground antics.
it’s easy to get a little homesick for those childhood days. so, for me, getting out on the jungle gym with a bunch of kids is like a field trip back in time. they make it easy to remember what the world looks like closer to earth.
we couldn’t have asked for a better group than this cool crew of cousins. not to mention their personal posse of swing-pushing parents, who were also off the chain. the former taylor sisters — karen, carrie, and janet — brought their growing families together at harris shoals park, watkinsville, for one big photo session before karen and family ship off for overseas service. it was an awesome way to celebrate their being together as a family. especially nice was the presence of grandpa taylor, who moved south not long ago to be closer to the grands.
i can’t see this image without hearing that classic barbershop style oldie: “lollipop, lollipop, oo la la lollipop… lollipop!” i don’t know. it may be unusual, but pictures often revive old sounds and smells for me. i guess i just like photos with their own soundtracks.
and here’s grandpa with the herd. add a few more and he may be in danger of stampede.
aah, little brothers. how can you resist ’em? enjoy the sweetness while it lasts…
i’m glad to see this family doesn’t leave all the playing to the youngsters. what did george bernard shaw say? “we don’t stop playing because we grow old. we grow old because we stop playing.”
thanks for letting us share your day in the park, you guys! we had so much fun hanging out with you.
What adorable pictures of adorable kids! Great and creative composition! You never cease to startle me with your unique style (and I mean that in a good way)!
I love these pictures. Some of the compositions are so original!
I love em! The pictures and the kids! How did you get them all to stay still for the pictures? The lollilop shot was a brilliant idea!
Great shots! How did you manage them to not even blink?
Makes me miss Ella already…
get them to stay still for the pictures..? oh, that was easy. i just stared into their eyes and chanted the hypnotic phrase: “be still, have fun. we’ll soon be done.” then their parents would all run around, herd them together, drop them in place and dash frantically out of frame.
Cok guzel!!!
The pics are so much fun to look at. Thanks for doing such a great job!
[…] remember ella.) did i mention carrie’s sister janet (like another sibling to us, and seen here with her son and daughter) is expecting, too? meanwhile, our pals m.j. and robert are on the nest […]
