when i think of jessica and her family, the word “classy” inextricably follows.  i’ve been privileged to know the morris crew for years; all we kids attended high school together, and i played baseball with jessie’s brother chris. so i wasn’t surprised, when it came time to celebrate jessie’s wedding day, that everything was just perfect. despite the foreboding writing on the bride’s pre-wedding tank top (“where’s john!?”), even he showed up to the church on time. well, technically, he showed up to the georgia club. eileen and i always enjoy shooting this location just outside our hometown of athens. but since the morris family already do a lot of their living and playing at the club, it was even more special. the whole day was beautiful and bright — so bright in fact, the shadows were threatening to kill any outdoor shots. but  jessie and john, their families, and especially the bridal party were all so great:  even under the august heat, everyone stayed completely chill and had a ball while we prepped the extra lighting setups. i think it paid off! all the wedding details were lovely, everyone looked top-notch, and we wanted to capture every bit of it!

now, i mentioned this family knows how to have a good time. (you probably already caught a glimpse of that in jessie and john’s playful augusta engagement session.) but just wait till you see how these folks dance! i don’t think there were less than half a dozen surprise dance numbers. i’m talking swingin’, jivin’, hilarious, fully choreographed dances. the bridesmaids threw down some awesome moves to “proud mary.” even the father-daughter dance transformed into a funky free-for-all when the rest of the morris family converged on the scene. i’ve never seen anything like it. if i do see something like it again, i’m sure no one will ever be able to pull it off so well. and wait till you see jessie and john’s alternative to the wedding cake:  wedding ice cream sundaes. (if anyone else is considering sundaes at your wedding, i approve!)

congrats again, jessie and john! we’re so excited to see you beginning another classy family together. 😉
