happy summer solstice, everybody! today is the longest day of the year. so i would expect to be getting a lot more work done than usual! but have you ever noticed when you gain a few extra minutes, they just seem to fly by faster? it hardly seems fair. then there’s our cute little jasmine — turning one year old this week! i think she’s aware that summer is finally here; she’s acting as ready for a vacation as we are, looking longingly out the window at the beautiful sunshiny day. trying to occupy her with toys just doesn’t cut it when there’s a big world out there to explore. (absolutely a girl after our own hearts!) anyway, eileen and i are inaugurating our summer with brad and kristi this evening, shooting an exciting encore session! so i better begin packing our camera bags. in the meantime, enjoy jessica and john’s engagement session!

we were so excited when jessica and john made their engagement official earlier this year. jessica and i attended the same middle school/high school. (in fact, i think my first real photo shoot was for her senior class’ yearbook page when i was in ninth grade; although it may have been the class after hers..?) she’s an awesome girl from a terrific family, and definitely a rare catch. we’re glad it was john who caught her; we literally can’t even talk on the phone with john without him brightening our day. he’s so positive, enthusiastic about life, and a perfect match for jessica. these two met working in the political arena, which i’m sure is partly to blame for the busy schedules that had them struggling to find a suitable wedding date. at last, they found an august opening and jumped at it; so we shot off to augusta for their engagement session before it was too late. apparently summer already had arrived in augusta. scorching heat! but these two — as well as john’s son, who got to join in on the fun — kept everything feeling cool.

we can’t wait to meet up with you guys again, jessica and john! thanks for the fantastic evening. hope you enjoy these images for a very long time! 🙂
