kate & miles | athens, ga maternity photographer

eileen and i have had a ball getting to know kate and miles over the last few weeks, as they prepare to welcome their first baby girl into the family. we’re getting excited, too, now that little charley grace is only a couple weeks away, and we’ll get to see her for newborn portraits just as her exciting life out here in the bright world begins! touring kate and miles’ home, we were so impressed by their stylish use of art and decor, as well as by the tireless and detailed work they’ve put into a gorgeous nursery for their new arrival. it will be such a perfect environment for charley grace to grow and learn in — not to mention how great it will be to photograph. with their aesthetic sensibilities and the importance they place on artfully preserving their family’s life, we were humbled that they asked us to play this important role for them.

so we were tempted to get discouraged when, after the first shot of their maternity session, the rain started coming down. massive thunderstorms were striking all around us, yet somehow the rain moved by us quickly and we got back to work with only a little lost time. we had promised to visit their neighbor’s house for the last part of the shoot, where we were very excited to be able to use one of the several antique cars he restores. unfortunately, daylight disappeared quickly with the onset of more storms. thankfully, we were able to return and spend a little more time with kate and miles to complete the vision for their images. i’m so glad it worked out that way. not only did we enjoy getting to know them and their neighbors better, but it allowed us to document kate as the time for her delivery grows ever closer.

thanks for everything, you two (including those delicious cookies)! we can’t wait to see you again — and your baby — very soon. we hope you love your images!
