as a photographer, i always relish that moment after a shoot when (up to my elbows in post-processing) i finally begin to see a collection of raw images transform before my eyes. the compositions have been tweaked, color palettes have been balanced, re-touching has been applied, and all of those details finally become..err, well, just background noise actually. because my favorite images are the ones in which every distraction falls away. you know what i mean? an image brimming with human emotion, where the subject’s personality is allowed to rise to the surface!
sitting across from brittny and jimmy at their consultation, my first impressions were of the gentleness and tender-heartedness they show to one another. kind smiles. engaging eyes. i was also tickled by jimmy’s playful sense of humor. i can’t help but laugh to myself when i think how much their relationship dynamics sometimes mirror those of eileen and me — brittny pretending to chastise jimmy for his antics, but unable to suppress a smile. i love how all of it plays out on their faces. and in the body language, i might add; watson mill proved once again to be a wonderful grown-up playground of sorts. we had a great time climbing and running around with this all-around terrific couple. afterward, jimmy jokingly asked me how they ranked on our list of photo subjects. i have to say, they rank among the most pleasant and best sports on that list! and, as you can see, all their work paid off.
here you go, you crazy kids: some of our favorite images from our spectacular evening with you. we hope they capture that rural georgia flavor that you love. most of all, we hope everyone sees the inspiring love you two flood every frame with. congrats, you two! can’t wait for the wedding.
do you see what i mean? i love this kind of spontaneity! in the old days, you had to chase and catch the woman you wanted to marry. consider this a kinda throwback to that… but a little more congenial. (again, brittny probably trying not to laugh, but to no avail.) 😉
i’ve been aching to shoot this old chimney since i first drove by it. finally, we found someone to let us out near it for some killer images. can’t you just imagine the home that was once built around these stones? i like to think of it as a monument to the happy hearth — an “ebenezer,” if you will, to the new family brittny and jimmy are starting together.
when we said “frolic,” these two took it seriously. and it turned into some super fun shots!

I absolutely love the pictures. When I first saw them I cried…which takes a lot. They are just so beautiful and capture the essence of our personalities. Thank you for what all you did that day and I cannot imagine any other photographer making two shy people feel more comfortable and natural. You both are truly an answer to a prayer. I can’t wait to share our big day with you.
