if you visit us here on the blog often, you may already know that my beautiful wife, eileen, and i are expecting our firstborn in the next few weeks. (hooray!) what you may not know is that, in our family, that’s nothing special. well, every baby is special — no doubt. i guess what i’m getting at is that, as a family, we’re breeding like bunny rabbits on Serophene.
currently, eileen’s brother jonathan and his wife sarah, as well as brother andy and his wife carrie, are expecting — both around the same time as we. this will be andy and carrie’s second baby. (you remember ella.) did i mention carrie’s sister janet (like another sibling to us, and seen here with her son and daughter) is expecting, too? meanwhile, our pals m.j. and robert are on the nest again, due soon before we are. you should have seen our families’ faces the day we announced our pregnancies — most of us at the same time! and i’m pretty suspicious about a couple other members of our extended family, but it may be too early to tell. (hmmm?)
simultaneous to all these pregnancies — but the first to arrive (pin the blue ribbon upon his chest!) — is michael bruce. michael bruce is not the second, third, fourth, or even fifth baby for my sister rebecca and her husband michael. he is big número six! no lack of playmates in this family. (you can see how much the other kiddos have grown since this shoot.) and we certainly had a great time playing with all our nephews and nieces during this family shoot. as a shower gift for rebecca, we decided to give “one free newborn session.” if i had known all our siblings — upon discovering they could get a photo session out of it — would run out and get pregnant all at once, we may have rethought that gift. but it’s a little late now. so there are a lot more baby sessions comin’ down the pipe, so to speak. (ok, admittedly not the best phrase for discussing birth). and that means our own, as well! so be on the lookout!
for now, here are a few of our favorites of michael bruce and fam’ — which basically means the photos in which all eight pairs of eyes were open at once. enjoy… and if you’re ever in our neck of the woods, don’t drink the water.

I love these pictures!
Hey Phillip and Eileen! Wow! Great pictures! Thanks for making us look so good– ha ha! I seriously don’t know how you did it… with Christian always closing his eyes, Abby and Sophia trying to sneak bunny ears into every picture, Luke with ants in his pants and Nora just being, well, a two year old. On top of all that, Michael Bruce was leaving his mark on the world every few minutes (and his mark on all the blankets, our shirts, and everything else!)
Thank you guys so much for being a part of this special time with us! Can’t wait to meet our own little niece or nephew in a few weeks now!
Love you guys!
Rebecca
