From the minute Eileen and I started shooting the breeze with Rachel and Matt via Skype, we knew they were one of those rare and special couples whom we could connect with deeply — on so many levels. We loved how they both grinned from ear to ear as they talked about their story: how they were introduced by a friend after they had caught each other’s eye at a campus ministry’s pancake breakfast, then how the Lord grew their relationship in strength and maturity up to their recent engagement.

What we didn’t realize right away, Matt and Rachel are also photographers and were referred to us by yet another photographer whom we know and adore. That’s the highest compliment one can receive in our particular corner of the arts world. So we couldn’t have been any more honored to be a part of these historic moments in this couple’s (and their sweet families’) lives. But the best part of all has been Rachel and Matt’s example of pure and intentional love. Such a clear example of that was the gift, a collection of Matt’s letters to Rachel over the span of their relationship, that he surprised her with at the moment of their first look on this gorgeous wedding day. (That moment and so many other great ones are below!) These two inspire us.

This classic wedding (at the gorgeous Bonclarken Conference Center in Flat Rock, NC) was rich in creativity and celebration!
