evie and chad’s wedding was one of the most joyful in recent memory. i’m sure it was a sentiment shared by everyone in attendance. but i think eileen’s heart and mine felt especially full because of our personal connection to these two crazy kids. (for the details of that story, you can read my post on evie & chad’s engagement.) watching these two go from “oh, just friends” to “i do” has been a real treat. it’s pretty clear that Someone bigger than they has a hand on their relationship and on their life together. in a word, evie and chad are a “light” in this world — one that we’re often inspired to look to.
we spent the morning at the home of evie’s parents, where she and chad got ready and then shared a first quiet moment together in the picturesque pasture just outside. well, i say “quiet.” just as they caught that first glimpse of each other and embraced, a loud “whoop!” came from the general direction of the house, where — a couple hundred yards away — family and friends were gathered on the porch and enjoying the show. that celebration continued the rest of the day.
the newly renovated cotton warehouse in monroe set the stage perfectly for a gorgeous vintage wedding. the decor was character-rich, the food delectable, the details exquisite, and the donuts… oh, yes, there were donuts! (if you ask me, that never-ending, sugary circle may be an even more beautiful symbol than the wedding ring.) well, without further ado, see for yourself…
bar none, absolutely one of my favorite images from the wedding. as i watched, evie’s grandfather spoke with the couple for several minutes, a range of emotions written on his face: he seemed to be expressing deep pride, then offering sober advice, and finally joking and rejoicing with the newlyweds. how i would love to hear the wall behind them talk! but, then, i’d still rather be a photographer. walls may hear more, but they can’t see the faces during a priceless moment like this.
