brittny & jimmy are married | maysville, ga wedding photography

Filed in:

spring is breezing by, and summer is fast approaching — which means wedding season is now in full swing. this time of year, eileen and i often wake up in the morning not knowing where we are. no, not because we’ve been partying that hard at late-night wedding receptions. (although i did get to rock out a bit when i sat in on drums recently with jessica & joseph’s band.. more to come.) but because we’re on the road so much, it seems like a new bed every night. over the last couple weeks, we’ve been traveling the southeast mostly — from jacksonville, fla., to blue ridge, ga, and soon on to savannah! to kick it all off, we headed out to a beautifully situated church (the grove) in rural maysville, ga, for brittny and jimmy’s long-anticipated nuptials.

it may sound corny, but after spending some quality time with brittny and jimmy during their engagement shoot, eileen and i felt genuinely blessed just to have been around them. their love for each other is so evident. their kindness is the sort of stuff the modern world seriously could use more of. do you know that part of a traditional wedding ceremony in which the officiant explains, as one benefit of the marriage service, that the bride and groom’s example should inspire other married couples to strengthen their own vows? that kind of inspiration is the good that brittny and jimmy bring to the table — now even more strongly as man and wife. eileen and i are thankful for them. and it’s the reason we were so looking forward to celebrating this day with them.

when brittny came around the corner to find me photographing her dress in the hands of the “baker,” she laughed out loud. apparently, this little troll of a man already had played a humorous role in their wedding experience. the previous night, during the rehearsal dinner, brittny and some of her bridesmaids had wandered into the dark pantry, only to be scared out of their wits by this petrifying — and petrified 😉 — character hiding in the shadows.

the very first time we spoke to brittny, she told us about hers and jimmy’s love for their country roots. so nothing could have been more befitting or beautiful than this good ol’ country a cappella trio. i love those tight, sweet-n-sour mountain harmonies! they’re the vocal equivalent of a sweet but tart rhubarb pie. mmm, good.

how cool is this? a life-sized chess set. luckily, no pieces came to life, and no red queen. brittny and jimmy make for a much more pleasant royal couple in our opinion. (we did quickly have to re-arrange pieces for our shots since, after arranging them the first time, we came out to find some wedding guests halfway through a game. but besides that, no trouble out of these pawns.)

congratulations again, you two! God bless. we wish you all the best.
