A lump formed in his throat as he took her hands beneath the wooden rafters of the converted barn. Her eyes welled up with joy as a song of worship and celebration echoed within its tin walls. This was the start of something big — not just a new chapter, but the convergence of two distinct storylines into a glorious new union. A new story. Suddenly, theirs weren’t the only tears in the room.
Eileen and I knew we’d be even more emotional than usual when Elizabeth and Trenn’s wedding finally arrived. As a father of daughters, I can’t maintain dry eyes during a father-daughter dance.. ever. But Elizabeth and her family are so special to us; she is like a little sister to us. From her wedding gown awaiting her on the same stage she’d performed from countless times over the years, to her father’s first look once she put it on, to the laughter of friends and every detail — this day at The Corner District (in Ball Park, GA) represented this wonderful couple perfectly.
Her marriage to Trenn, a courageous and kind (and devilishly handsome, I might add! J) man who truly deserves her, made everything in the world feel right. I’m sure my tone gives away my optimism about the power of marriage. But I’m a realist as well. And I’m made yet more optimistic knowing that Elizabeth and Trenn share a realistic view of marriage — a wisdom beyond their years and a Savior who we know will guide them through this life together. We already see how they are refining each other. And we’re inspired by their selflessness as a team, serving and changing the world around them for the better.
We love you, Elizabeth and Trenn. Life together is an adventure. Fight for the beautiful outcome every day!
