A joyful countryside wedding in Watkinsville, GA

I always love the part in a wedding ceremony when the officiant admonishes the married couples in the congregation — saying something like, “Let these vows remind you of your own vows to one another, and inspire you to renew and fulfill those promises every day.” Brittney and Josh’s wedding had that kind of powerful effect on me. It was beautiful in so many ways, from gorgeous florals (which, if you can believe it, were re-arranged last minute after a broken refrigerator froze the original bouquets!), to a gorgeous day in the green country. But the real beauty of this wedding lay in meaningful looks and joyful laughter, in prayers spoken over Brittney and Josh by their family and friends, and in the deep commitment to God and to each other that remained forefront in their minds.

We choked up (and so did everyone present) when Brittney and Josh delivered letters to one another’s parents — well deserved “thank you’s” for the loving and faithful job they did in raising such remarkable people who, in our opinion, are truly perfect for one another. Brittney and Josh are one of those couples whom we somehow failed to meet for a long time, even though we walk in many of the same circles. When we finally did meet and began spending quality time with them during their engagement session, we had to ask, “What have we done all this time without these amazing people in our lives?”  This celebration was a personal one, and we loved every moment spent in rooms full of familiar faces and friends, all of us thanking God for his goodness in Brittney and Josh’s lives. Congratulations, you two! Enjoy every step of this journey; we know the Lord has good plans in store for you. 🙂

These last images have a fun story behind them. We waited and waited for the perfect part of sunset, then the bride and groom escaped the reception with us for a moment to create this shot. We noticed those clouds were coming in fast! (Isn’t the light always the most beautiful during changing weather?!) Well, the weather changed all right! After a long dry day, the rain started to pour down — literally at our backs. We ran together the length of the cotton field back toward the church, a visible wall of rain chasing us the whole way. It caught up with is just as we dove under shelter. Good times! Love this crazy couple and the memorable adventures we’ve gotten to share with them. 🙂
